Update on Nathan
Several people have asked about Nathan's health, so I thought I would just give you an update. For the past month or so, he has had these attacks of severe abdominal pain and cramping. About 2 weeks ago it happened and lasted until 2am, when he decided to go to the ER. There they found that he had a food blockage and admitted him for observation. The blockage passed on its own and we thought it was over. Well not so. Last Thursday night as we were going to bed about 9:30pm, he had another attack which was the most painful he'd ever experienced. He was vomitting and in serious pain. I took him to the ER again (twice in one week). This time they saw no food blockage in the x-ray, so they did a CT scan. This scan showed an internal blockage which would have to be explored surgically. I left the hospital around 1:30am to go get some sleep. Nathan called me at 4:30am to tell me he was going into surgery. Needless to say, I did NOT get back to sleep. The surgeon called me about 7am to tell me Nate was out and resting. He said he'd found an internal hernia in Nathan's small bowel, which he had laproscopically put back the way it was supposed to be. The problem is, the surgeon told Nathan that this was just "bad luck" and that there was no way of knowing if it would happen again. So now the poor guy has to worry about whether or not he'll be in that kind of pain again and where/when it will happen. It does seem that this health crisis we've been in the past 4-5 months, or should I say 10 years, is never going to end. Now you know.
