Last week we drove all the way to Rochester, Minnesota to visit the Mayo Clinic there. We dropped our kids off in KC with our wonderful friends the Christensens and then kept on driving. In our three day whirlwind trip we gained some valuable information...
1. Alissa travels better if given hours worth of movies to watch just like her children.
2. Our children really do fine without us once in a while.
3. Nathan is such a great patient. He stays calm while being poked and prodded with endless needles and technical medical equipment. He doesn't even get grouchy when fasting all day!
4. He also thinks he is completely alert after being sedated, but finds a day later that he remembers very little of what he did afterward.
5. No matter what kind of surgery you get, even if your surgeon is the very best, it always carries with it a certain amount of risk. Nathan and I are not very big fans of risk!
The Mayo Clinic Rochester was actually a very impressive place. And the weather was just beautiful. Between medical tests we did get to sit outside and enjoy one meal together in the sunshine. What a nice break from the hot and humid weather we have here in Arkansas!

A couple things...
1.It is incredible how amazing and brave you are!
2. I love the new beds-the more I read your blog the more baby-crazy I get:)
3. The soap story is hilarious. I laughed for five minutes, but cleaning up barf is way gross so alas I will wait before bearing children
I've been wondering about your trip. I'm so glad you blogged about it! I hope the doctors found a good solution for Nate. Can't wait to hear more about it.
