The Quest to Catch the Racoon!

We have a wonderful shed in our backyard. It is a nifty place to store yard tools and things. We were excited to have it when we bought the house. I'm not so sure anymore. It turns out, a mommy racoon has made herself a nest up in the eves of the shed and had babies. We, or should I more accurately say, Nathan, has been working hard to figure out how to get them out and keep them out. By blocking their entry/exit, we think we have gotten the mother out. The problem is she keeps coming back and trying to chew or claw her way back in. Nathan finally bought a trap and with cans of tuna fish and honey soaked celery ribs, has so far caught and released two baby racoons. Tonight we will re-bait the cage and see if there are any more babies in there. We hope we can get the whole family out and keep them out, as they are ruining our shed! Not to mention the fear we all feel at the idea of opening the door to get the mower out! I always picture this rabid wild animal jumping out at me....

We are also getting nearer to my due date. I can' t wait to get this baby out! About 2 more weeks I think, but we'll see. I'm posting this gigantic belly shot for all to see so that after birth, no matter what I look like, I'll know it is smaller than this!
