Samantha got glasses today! We have known her eyesight isn't perfect since her 4 yr old check up and thought it would be good to get it taken care of before she starts kindergarten. I can't believe how grown up glasses make her look. She picked them out herself and was sure they had to be purple. She has also requested her very first real ponytail, which for someone who is very fussy about her hair, is quite an accomplishment. In an effort to look more like her older sister, Sammie has decided to grow her hair out, bangs and all. I am not too thrilled about the long months of ragamuffin hair during the growing out phase, but when that girl decides something, it's nearly impossible to convince her otherwise.
I think becoming a big sister hasn't come so naturally to Samantha. She has told me at least twice this week that Lila has "taken my parents away." She goes between wanting to "give that baby up for adoption" and strangling her in her efforts to give love. I thought with nearly 5 years between them it would be easier. Instead, Samantha seems to be reluctant to give up her youngest child status in the family. After all, she enjoyed it longer than any of the other kids.
Lila Grace is coming into her own these days. She recognizes us and is smiling easily now. She has DEFINITELY filled out...weighing nearly 13 lbs at 2 months old. She is a really good baby and Tyler and Audrey are great with her. They really help out a lot. I am actually a little worried about how I'll handle things once they go back to school. Both Ty and Audrey are getting braces next month. It's amazing that they are growing up so fast. I'll post pictures of the big kids in braces when the time comes. Meanwhile, here's the girl in glasses and the chubby baby....
