April Travels

We took two trips during the month of April. The first was to Naples, Florida for a legal conference Nathan was invited to. Thanks to my sister and my parents, Lila and I were able to accompany him for the long weekend, leaving the three older children at home. I have to say the beach was gorgeous, the weather perfect and the accomodations amazing. The view from our room brought a smile to my face every time I walked in. Nathan says I am spoiled now after having stayed at the Ritz. He is right.
Our second trip was to Monterey and San Jose, California. We took the whole family to the beach this time! We were there for my cousin's wedding and to see my grandparents, aunts and uncles who live in the area. We had a couple of great days on our own in Monterey. We explored many beaches and took the kids to the Monterey Bay Aquarium. Then disaster hit. Lila started vomiting and having diarreah just before we moved to our hotel in San Jose. Audrey and I then got sick shortly after. Nathan came down with it just a day after us. To make a long story short, Tyler and Sammie escaped it, but Nathan got so dehydrated we almost had to take him to the ER. Thanks to a wonderful priesthood blessing, he was well enough to fly home. I guess this trip turned into one of "those" vacations that you barely endure and then laugh at years later. I'm still not laughing! I was so upset to be sick and miss out on the wedding festivities and Easter Sunday with my grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins. That is a long way to travel only to spend so much time cleaning up yuck in a hotel room!
