Christmas at Home
Christmas was so special this year. It was our first in this house and the second one to fall on a Sunday since we've had our kids. I just love waking up and going to church before opening presents. It really sets the tone and helps us remember the true meaning of Christmas. It also makes the gift giving last longer, which I am always sad to see come to an end. We had family over for a Christmas Eve dinner and Nativity here the night before. Then we attended church at my parents ward where Dad, Michael, Doug, Nathan and Heather sang. By the time we got home the kids were DYING to open their presents. It was around 11:00 by then! We had a great time together. Everyone seemed genuinely happy-- no tears....that is until Tyler opened his iPod, which Samantha cried about for a half hour. She said that is what she had wanted Santa to bring her! We drove up to mom and dad's that evening and opened gifts with the rest of the family. Once we got home we were all exhausted and trying to get to bed. Samantha finished the day off by getting sick and barfing all over her room, new books, and WHITE pillow her aunt lovingly made her. Oh well. We aren't striving for perfection here. I was just so happy the rest of the family slept and that was the only vomit mess I had to clean up!
